Mile Fáilte (one
hundred thousand welcomes) to
Celtic Vineyards and the Lynch Family Bed and Breakfast, the Winegeese
Inn. The
Winegeese Inn is in a newly renovated farmhouse built in 1890
by John Hubbs. The vineyard is located on 15 acres inluding a
pond. Our grapes include chambourcin, villard blanc, norton, chancellor
and chardonnay. We also have a variety of organic fruit trees.
The History:
The Lynch clan was part of the migration of Irish soldiers called
Winegeese who fled Ireland to France and other countries in fear
for their lives after the signing of the Treaty of Limerick in
1691. The treaty was never honored by the British and these exiles
from Ireland were often named on the ships' manifests as Wine
Geese to ensure their safe passage to the continent. Many of them
entered the wine trade, and their influence continues. It is these
who are known as "Winegeese" and many others followed
these Winegeese from Ireland to become owners of vineyards in
France, Spain and many other Olde World countries. To this day
the Lynch family feel a deep and lasting connection to the Winegeese
of Ireland and to the growing of grapes and the making of wine.
